Crucial Recruiting is partnering with a small, well-funded software company building a modern, AI-powered stack for accounting firms: client collaboration, document management, workflow automation and financial insight in a single product. The team is roughly fourteen people and was founded in 2023. A sister company uses the product daily, so real user feedback lands within hours of a release rather than a quarter later.

About the Opportunity

This is greenfield product engineering with genuine end-to-end ownership. You take work from architecture through to the pixel, ship it, and hear from real users almost immediately. The team is craft-focused and small enough that what you build is visibly yours. Four seats are open, so there is room for a range of strengths across the group.

What You'll Do

Product Delivery

• Build and ship full-stack product features end to end in TypeScript, React and Next.js
• Own work from architecture through to interface detail, rather than picking up one layer of it
• Turn same-day user feedback into shipped improvements on a short cycle

Systems & Data

• Design and build APIs and data models supporting document management and workflow automation
• Contribute architectural thinking alongside hands-on delivery as the platform grows

AI-Assisted Development

• Work daily with modern AI coding tooling, which this team uses as a standard part of development
• Apply judgment about what to accept, what to rewrite, and where the tooling does not belong

What We're Looking For

• 3-5 years of full-stack product engineering in TypeScript, React and Next.js
• You have built and shipped real features at a seed or Series A startup
• Full-stack in practice: TypeScript, React/Next.js, APIs and databases
• Clear growth in your trajectory, engineer to senior, rather than the same level for several years
• A strong collaborator with a visible record of working alongside a team
• Based in Madison, WI or genuinely committed to relocating there. This role is on-site three days a week and is not remote
• Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship, now or in the future

Strongly Preferred

• Consumer-facing product work with direct customer contact
• Active daily use of AI coding tools
• A CS degree, or the equivalent demonstrated through shipped side projects and public code
• Visible evidence of craft: side projects, a personal site, writing, or published work
• A record of driving work independently without waiting to be assigned it

Technical Environment

• Next.js, TypeScript, React
• oRPC and TanStack
• AWS
• AI development tooling used daily across the team
